Perloza MT
PERLOZA MT is highly porous regenerated cellulose with heterogenous matrix (partialy microcrystaline) and with polymer structure stabilized by hydrogen bonds only – there are not covalent cross-linkings. Because of this heterogenity the physical properties of PERLOZA MT matrix are remarkable.
The high performance and capacity togheter with the superior flow properties reduce separation time and save money. In addition, the attractive cost- exceptional at this class of gels-makes an investment in a chromatography system based on PERLOZA MT economical. For this reason PERLOZA MT may be the packing of choice both for laboratory columns and for large production columns in the chromatography industry.
The number of hydroxyl (-OH) groups in polysaccharide chains make PERLOZA MT high hydrophilic and therefore biocompatible medium well tolerated by biosystems.
PERLOZA MT may be further modified. All standard methods used for derivating or activating of soft polysaccharide matrices are applicable on PERLOZA MT directly or with small changes. For this reason the gels have been used for preparation of a large number derivatives modified cellulose of spherical shape.
High chemical stability:
PERLOZA MT matrix is resistant to all chromatographic buffers, detergents, chaotropic agents and the most used organic solvents making it suitable for all types of liquid chromatography of biopolymers. Due to the hydrolysis resistant matrix PERLOZA is stable over a broad pH range (1-14) and thus it may be cleaned both by acids and alkali. In addition to it PERLOZA also resists high temperature and therefore can be sterilized by autoclaving.
High mechanical stability:
PERLOZA MT is characterized by excellent mechanical properties with a high pressure rezistance. The high stiffness of particles allows elution of columns at high flow rates. Changes in ionic strength or pH have a negligible influence on the gel bed volume. This is advatageous in salts or pH gradient elution or where the sanitization of the gel straight in column is required (cleaning-in-place). These outstanding mechanical and flow properties of PERLOZA enable its applications on all scales from laboratory to industrial processes.
High hydrophility:
The number of hydroxyl (-OH) groups in polysaccharide chains make PERLOZA MT high hydrophilic and therefore biocompatible medium well tolerated by biosystems. PERLOZA MT may be further modified. All standard methods used for derivating or activating of soft polysaccharide matrices are applicable on PERLOZA MT directly or with small changes. For this reason the gels have been used for preparation of a large number derivatives modified cellulose of spherical shape.
Based on its properties PERLOZA MT matrix may be idealy suited as a carrier for:
- ligand coupling for bioaffinity chromatography
- charged groups bonding for ion exchange chromatography
- preparation of special sorbents and modified derivatives
- enzyme immobilization
- gel filtration of biopolymers
The product porosity specification is particulary important as it predetermines the separation capability of the gels. Porosity is expressed both in the value of the bed volume, i.e. the degree of swollubility of the gel (saying that one gramme of dry gel in swollen condition can fulfill given volume) and as arange of fractionation, i.e. the range of weights (sizes) of macromolecules for which the porous system is accessible and which are performed at the highest efficiency. These data are being found out for proteins by gel permeation chromatography.
